He was a much loved son and brother and although was not born in Scotland he was a true Scotsman, supporting his team and celebrating life as a true Scotsman would.
Chris was born Christopher Fotheringham at Hope Hospital and weighed 5lb 9oz and had small tufts of ginger hair.A great baby he ate and slept all the time.I worked and lived in a hotel so Chris met lots of diferent people. He would work his charm with his shy smile and made lots of friends.
He started Ascension nursery at 3yrs and was very shy and quiet. This all changed when we moved to Cardenden Fife when he was 4yrs
When he started school he wouldn't speak because the kids would make fun of his accent and when he did start to talk he spoke a combination of scots/english He sounded really funny! We would go for picnics in the woods and he would climb those trees. Scare me to bits but he like adventures. His first friend was Bradley then Seivy and Alan.Seivy(aka Graham)bullied him at school (well they were only 5)but they ended life long friends They even played guitar together when they were in their late teens.Alan also remained a close friend and Bradley? Well he was the nice guy always there.
On this day Chris became a big brother. His sister Kyly was born and from the moment he saw her he became her protector and loved her to bits and to her he was her hero and friend. When she was 6months and he was 10yrs we visited friends in Switzerland. He loved this holiday but it was outdone when 2yrs later is team won the local football tournament. Well c'mon boys football always comes first!

Chris worked as a hairdresser then in a Casting company (foundry) but never seemed to settle. In 1998 he decided to join the Army so enlisted in the Scots Dragoon Guards a tank regiment
Chris did his training in England then was based in Fallingbostal in Germany. He also visited Poland and Canada
This is a poem about our Chris
Who came into the life of my wee sis
Born in Manchester he may have been
But a true'r Scotsman you have never seen
A little boy with a cheeky grin
Your heart he knew he could always win
Lately he was known as "Dinger" one of the lads
Of the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards
But over the years he came to be
A very special nephew to me
God in your mercy please take care
of the lovely man with the red hair
17/10/2000 Aunty Ruth always in my heart xxx

We move up to Scotland to be near my parents. Chris loved it living in the village he had lots of freedom so we bought a dog and called her Coco.If he wasn't down visiting my parents he would be riding his bike or walking the dog.He was very close to his Grandad and Gran.

My life with Chris has been surrounded with music from when he had his keyboard to when he played his electric guitar I will put his video on one day!He loved to dance and to party but most of all he loved music. We bought him his electric guitar then he bought his decks he would play his guitar and practice all the time He loved music any kind.My house was alive with music!!
When I started this I wasn't sure if I could do it.Even though it is nearly seven years since my son Chris chose to take his life I still feel his loss terribly.
I have to say now that this to me is not just a tribute to my wonderful son but also a time for me to reflect and remember how close we were.Every entry I have made so far has brought me an understanding and peace and the joy of Chris.I will continue adding to this site I feel this brings him closer to me.
I started to build my tribute to Chris Bell today.
It's 7yrs today and I still find it hard to accept Chris is gone. I went to his grave with flowers and just cried.I feel how wonderful life would be if he was still here but maybe I'm wrong. He must have been so unhappy with his life. I bought a card with a poem on it so I've put it in my thoughts.
